Colorful pottery storyteller by Mohave Indian artist Elmer Gates, 1929-1990.
Hand built with native clay, pit fired, then brightly painted with acrylic paints, very unusual!
The seated figure is 10 1/2" tall, 7" deep and 7" wide.
Attached are the 8 boys climbing all over him as he sings the stories.
According to Rick Dillingham who was a personal friend, this was created near the end of Elmer's life.
Excellent original condition, signed.
