Large Mojave pottery effigy jar by Elmer Gates

Hand built with native clay and slips, pit fired.

Standing 11 1/2" tall by 9 1/2" diameter, excellent original condition.

No scratching, just slip bleed through.

Interesting square neck with two spouts and beaded jewelry.

The beaded cape was added by the collector, it was made for a doll or gourd.

Signed and dated 1956.
