Red pottery olla by the Tohono O'odham Indian of southern Arizona.
Hand made with native clay and slip, pit fired, dark fire clouds.
This pretty olla shaped jar stands 8 1/2" tall and is 8 1/4" diameter.
Good original condition, minor wear and one small chip on the rim as pictured.
What is interesting is the lack of stone burnishing, and it is well painted.
Probably made for water storage.
In pencil on the bottom is "Papago Indian" Olliwer.
Buyer pays $20.00 for shipping.
