Apache Indian basketry tray woven by Mary Porter of San Carlos.
Split willow and devils claw are coiled over a three rod bundle, 4 coils and 12 wefts per inch.
The black star is nicely balanced and is surrounded by floating diamonds and triangles, pretty rim finish of black and white.
Purchased in 1967 at the Arizona State Fair, where it had won Second Place.
Excellent original condition, just beginning to get an age patina.
